Sheffield’s Bryony Page wins gold in World Trampoline Championships

Sheffield’s Bryony Page has added her name to the history books once again by becoming the first British female trampoline gymnast to win a World Championships gold medal since Sue Shotton in 1984. Thirty year old Page won the individual gold at the Trampolining Gymnastics World Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan. The medal adds to her team gold from 2013 and silver and bronze Olympic medals from Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020. Sheffield cricket coach urge caution on racism row

Shahid Ali, coach for Allama Iqbal Cricket Club, told Sheffield Live! he is not surprised with the allegations of racism at Yorkshire Cricket Club but urges people to be cautious as investigations continue. His comment came as over 35 people have contacted Yorkshire Cricket Club’s whistle-blowing hotline since it was launched just a week ago. Olympic hero Bryony Page looks forward to Trampoline World Championships

Sheffield’s Olympic bronze medallist Bryony Page is back in training and getting ready for the Trampoline World Championships to be held in Baku, Azerbaijan, in November. Speaking to Sheffield Live! Bryony said she was very happy with the bronze medal which adds to her silver from Rio 2016. Team GB returned home on Monday after one of their most successful Olympics, finishing third in the overall medals table with 65, equalling their tally in London 2012 and just short of their 67 medal top performance at Rio 2016. Capacity crowd at Tramlines return

Over 40,000 revellers a day attended the sold out three day Tramlines Festival at Hillsborough Park with no mask or social distancing requirements. Speaking to Sheffield Live! Timm Cleasby, operational manger for Tramlines said: “It’s been incredible. Across the city we have had an amazing reaction.” The return of the city’s biggest music festival has been a landmark for the UK live events industry being among the first to join the government’s pilot Events Research Programme to test the relaxation of coronavirus restrictions. Capacity crowds for Tramlines weekend

Tramlines music festival returned to Sheffield at the weekend with a capacity crowd at the main event and thousands joining Fringe at Tramlines on Devonshire Green. Tramlines Festival 2021 was organised as one of the pilot events in England for which mask and social distancing requirements have been removed. Football charity boss condemns online racist abuse

Football Unites Racism Divides boss Simon Hyacinth expressed his disappointment after three of England’s players were subjected to racist abuse following the Three Lions’ defeat by Italy in the Euro 2020 final. Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka all missed in the penalty shoot out and were later targetted on social media. England manager Gareth Southgate described the abuse as unforgivable. New Blades manager seeks Premiership return

Slavisa Jakanovic spoke to Sheffield Live! following his appointment as Blades manager, taking over from Chris Wilder. After the disappointment of relegation Blades fans will be hoping Jokanovic can take the team back into the Premiership . Azz Mohammed reports.

New Sheffield football club enters county league

Less than a year after its launch, Sheffield City Football Club is to join division two of the Sheffield and Hallamshire County League. The new club, set up during the first peak of the Covid-19 pandemic, is offering a range of football and coaching opportunities. It first set up to offer coaching for young children and started two teams for under eights. Now it has produced an adult team that is set to join the county league.
