Get Involved

Welcome to Sheffield Live!

Sheffield Live! is a volunteer run community media centre with public access facilities for media production and broadcast, including community radio and TV channels. We offer a welcoming space where you can learn new skills and meet others, and we invite YOU to get involved. At Sheffield Live! we learn by doing, so what you put in you get out. It’s a place where you can share what’s best about you and where the people are friendly and the atmosphere always exciting.

Get in touch if you would like to drop by for a tea or coffee, use our internet and printing facilities, or join one of our workshops or volunteer groups. There are currently three main areas in which you can get involved – media production, sales/marketing and duty management/reception, but others offers of help are always welcome, or just come along to see what’s going on. No previous experience is necessary and we support and train volunteers who are willing to make a regular commitment.

If you are interested then you can ring 0114 2814082 to find out more or alternatively email info@sheffieldlive.org

Production

Sheffield Live! is a public access community broadcaster. All our programmes are made by volunteer producers, presenters and reporters. Do you want to get involved in programme making? We update our programme schedule on a seasonal basis but we are always open to receive new programme proposals and ideas.

We also have opportunities to get involved in our core programme strands – the “Sheffield Uprising” breakfast radio show, the lunchtime “Communities Live!” slot on the radio and TV news production for Sheffield Live! TV News. Get in touch with details of your interests and your previous experience, if any, in media production or, if you have a new programme idea, contact us and ask for a programme proposal form.

Sales and marketing

Sheffield Live! generates revenue from advertising and sponsorship, fundraising events and promotions, project grants, and donations from listeners and supporters.

We provide opportunities through our marketing team to get involved in sales and fundraising, to contribute to events management and promotions, and to assist with marketing and communications. We are always open to new ideas and welcome new volunteers whether or not you have previous training or experience in any of these areas.

Volunteers involved in sales and marketing may put in 1 or 2 hours a week, get involved in a short project or make a more substantial contribution. The hours are flexible but we expect people to commit to tasks and responsibilities that are vital to the station.

Reception work is usually in 4 hour slots. Receptionists must be aged 16 or over, and ready to welcome a diverse group of people.
