Hundreds of protesters took part in an anti-fracking rally at Barkers Pool at the weekend following news that shale gas drilling is to resume in Lancashire after a failed legal challenge. According to protest organisers the Global Frackdown Carnival aimed to “show the scale and strength of the opposition” to the extraction of shale gas by fracking. Sheffield educational charity, CRESST, has been recognised in the Teach Primary Resource Awards for its work on citizenship, personal social health and economic education. Sheffield Council has officially opened a breastfeeding room at the Town Hall to encourage mums and future mums to breast feed their children. The dedicated room, just off the reception area of the Town Hall, will be available for use by any breastfeeding mum.
