Tramlines Festival weekend charity fundraiser

Sheffield Tramlines festival has teamed up with Leadmill, Jon McClure and others to raise money for Sheffield causes on what would have been the weekend of Tramlines festival 2020. The event featured a host of online activities from pub quizzes to charity raffles as well as the music. All money raised is to go to Sheffield causes including Roundabout, Sheffield S6 Food Bank, Disability Sheffield, iForge and Cavendish Cancer Care. Sheffield Live ! reporter Azz Mohammed spoke to Alex Deadman of Tramlines Festival.

SynthFest returns to Sheffield

The UK’s premier synthesizer festival, SynthFest, has returned to Sheffield for its fourth year with over 1000 delegates attending exhibitions, workshops and performance at the Octagon Centre. Parents appeal for missing son

South Yorkshire Police have appealed for information to help find 23 year old Minod Monger, last seen at around 5.30pm on 10 June in the Ecclesfield area of Sheffield. His family are extremely worried about his welfare. He is described as being Asian with dark black hair and around 5ft 4in tall. He was last seen wearing a white jacket, grey joggers and black Crocs. Government injects £100m to tackle knife crime

South Yorkshire Police are set to share with other police forces across the country an additional £100m of government funding to help deal with the surge in knife crime. The cash is to be used for police overtime and to fund new ‘Violent Crime Reduction Units’. South Yorkshire Police have been running a campaign this week to raise awareness about knife crime and to reduce the numbe of weapons on the streets. Sheffield charity aims to help young people into work

A new Sheffield-based charity aiming to get vulnerable young people into work is set to launch in February after a pilot scheme supported by local businesses and volunteers. Grow UK aims to nurture skills to support vulnerable young adults to succeed in the workplace through a programme of coaching, one-to-one support and practical work experience. Lottery grant to restore Broomhill heritage garden

Broomhill Library have received a grant from the Big Lottery for improvements to the Victorian building and to restore its long-abandoned Percy Cain Heritage Garden. The building on Taptonville Road was privately owned before being converted to a library in 1957. Since 2014 it has been run by volunteers who are hoping it can be developed as a community hub. Sheffield Live reporter Azz Mohammed spoke to the David Chenchen, chair of the trustees of Broomhill Library.

Nether Edge Festival underway

The opening event for Nether Edge Festival 2018 was held at the Common Ground Community Centre with music, dance, face-painting, arts and crafts activities. The festival, into its fourth year and taking place at various venues in Nether Edge, runs until 23 September. Baillor Jalloh reports fo Sheffield Live!

Age Better campaign to combat loneliness

The Age Better in Sheffield campaign, led by South Yorkshire Housing Association, is seeking to reduce isolation and loneliness among over 50s with a toolkit going out initially to 7,000 households in the Firth Park area. The kits are designed to encourage people to connect with one another, especially those who may feel isolated, and include information about activities and facilities as well as advice. Sheffield Live! reporter Azz Mohammed spoke to Hannah Thornton of Age Better in Sheffield.

Tramlines fringe set to rock the city

A packed music programme of fringe events is planned to run in parallel with this year’s Tramlines Festival at Hillsborough Park. A music stage on Devonshire Green will be among the highlights as bars and clubs across the city programme a weekend of live music. Tap the + button in the top right like you normally would to add a podcast. Then tap “Add URL” in the top right, paste the feed URL and hit done!

Tap the + sign in the top right. Then choose”Add RSS Feed” and paste in the URL of the RSS feed. Tap “Add.”

Downcast (iOS & Mac)

Tap “Add” on the bottom bar, press “Add Podcast Manually” and in the “Feed” field paste the URL of the RSS feed. Then hit “Subscribe” in the top right.

Your podcasts should now be kept up to date and every show until you unsubscribe will be kept on your media player. Bear in mind our shows are usually 1 or 2 hours, so each show will use up 55mb to 110mb of your hard drive storage respectively.
