Junior football club launches new kit

Sheffield United’s Junior Blades 1981 have been handed a boost ahead of their new football season kick off. The grassroots under 9’s football team debuted its new football kit on Thursday, designed and donated by mobile network operator Giffgaff. The volunteer managed club are now using their new kit to train and prepare for the forthcoming season. Bailor Jalloh reports for Sheffield Live!

Sheffield venues join Ask for Angela campaign

Dozens of venues across Sheffield have joined the Ask for Angela campaign to tackle sexual harrassment in pubs, bars and clubs. The scheme, first launched in 2016 in Lincolnshire, aims to combat harrassment of women and to support safety when dating and on nights out. Campaigners call for public enquiry on Sheffield trees

Tree campaigners in Sheffield have called for a public enquiry after a recent report revealed hundreds of trees could be saved by pavement works and other solutions. A survey of 309 trees scheduled for removal concluded that 191 can be retained “on a long-term basis” but campaigners have accused the local authority of misleading the public. Charity appeal to find stolen van

Sheffield’s RSPCA are appealing for help to locate a van used by the charity after it was reported stolen last weekend. According to the charity the van was stolen overnight between 10pm on Friday 12 July and Saturday 13th. The van has RSPCA stickers all over it, as well as a large image of a cat on one side and a dog on the other. Baillor Jalloh reports for Sheffield Live!

Sheffield author connects black and European cultures

Writer and broadcaster Johny Pitts, who grew up in Firth Park, spoke to Sheffield Live! about Afropean, his recently launched book exploring African and European identities. The book tells a journey of exploration, self reflection and travel focussing on the black European experience and the multiple allegiances of new generations. Community music studio re-launched

Sadacca Studios on the Wicker has re-opened at the weekend as a music space and arts venue after a budget makeover. The former Bob Marley studio, unused for nearly a decade, has been equipped by Musical Works, a not-for-profit organisation.
