Youth justice service praised for work on knife crime

Sheffield Youth Justice Service has been rated as “good” with some areas of practice outstanding following a probation inspectorate review. The Youth Justice Service works with troubled young people, age between 10 to 18, some of whom are serving court sentences, while others have been given conditional cautions or community resolutions. The Inspector of Probation noted that Sheffield YJS has been at the forefront of work on knife crime. Baillor Jalloh reports for Sheffield Live!

Knife Angel decision could be reviewed

Sheffield Councillor Paul Wood, cabinet member for housing and community safety, told Sheffield Live! the decision not to host a sculpture aimed a tackling knife crime could be reviewed. The Knife Angel sculpture, created from blades handed in to UK police forces, has provoked mixed views but campaigners are calling for Sheffield to be among the cities hosting the touring sculpture. Knife campaign launched in Sheffield schools

A group of young Sheffield men are set to visit schools across the city in a campaign to cut down on knife crime. 20 year old Lewis Pask, pro boxer Luke Junior and their friends have devised the “Drop the Knife” campaign to raise awareness of knife crime and its dangers. The initiative comes just a week after two teenagers were stabbed to death in different neighbourhoods. Baillor Jalloh reports for Sheffield Live!
