The Women’s Euro 2022 Roadshow brought hundreds of families and fans to a showcase in the Peace Gardens of the best of football, fitness and music. Sheffield is among the host cities for the Women’s Euro 2022 football tournament which is set to kick off in July. Organisers are aiming to inspire more communities, particularly young people and families, to get involved in the biggest European women’s sport event in history. As part of Dementia Action Week, the Alzheimer’s Society is encouraging people to see their GP if they experience symptoms of dementia in order to get the support they may need. Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust is offering a series of free Wild Wellbeing days for people who volunteered their time and skills during the Coronavirus pandemic. The free activities are aimed at thanking volunteers for their contributions during the pandemic whilst enabling them to take part in creative nature-inspired activities. Liberal Democrats leader for Sheffield councillor Shaffaq Mohammed has offered a coalition agreement with the Green Party following the local election result leaving no party with overall control. The Green Party is expected to decide in the coming days whether to continue a coalition with Labour or to join forces with the Liberal Democrats. Azz Mohammed reports for Sheffield Live!
The Green Party gained one seat over Labour in the Sheffield Council elections and have welcomed three new councillors. Green Party councillor Douglas Johnson told Sheffield Live! the party is in talks with Labour and the Liberal Democrats on the make up of the new administration. Azz Mohammed reports.
A group of musicians will perform live on Sheffield streets on Saturday as part of Busk Aid where all donations go towards humanitarian aid around the world. It’s the first time the team will perform live since lockdown when the yearly event had to go virtual. Rotherham Council has unveiled plans for Riverside Gardens, a new public space that will form a key gateway to the flagship Forge Island leisure development and wider town centre. The proposals include an eight screen cinema and a hotel as well as bars and restaurants together with additional green spaces and play areas with connections to the river and nature.
