GB wheelchair basketball recognised in Hall of Champions

The GB men’s wheelchair basketball team have been inducted into the Hall of Champions at the English Institute of Sport in recognition of their 2018 World Championships win in Hamburg. The team profile joins the likes of Anthony Joshua and Jessica Ennis in the Hall of Champions gallery. Its the first time the team has won the World Championship trophy and they are one of the youngest teams in the world with an average age of 27. Music board to promote Sheffield talent

Sheffield City Region Mayor, Dan Jarvis, has announced the launch of a new scheme to help shape and grow the region’s music industry. The Sheffield Music Board will bring together artists, music businesses and festival organisers in partnership with UK Music. Campaigners seek second Brexit referendum

Remain campaigners from Sheffield for Europe mounted a lobby outside the Town Hall to call on councillors to support a motion on Brexit. The motion urges MPs to allow a second referendum on the Brexit deal, with the option to remain. Baillor Jalloh reports for Sheffield Live!

Sheffield celebrates 50 years of kidney transplants

Surgeons and kidney patients gathered at Kenwood Hotel in Nether Edge to celebrate 50 years of kidney transplants in Sheffield. The first successful transplant in Sheffield was carried out in 1968 at a time when success rates were very low. In the last year the NHS performed 81 transplants with a 90 per cent success rate. Deal reached on Hillsborough bus services

Private bus company Stagecoach have agreed to increase capacity on the busy 52 bus route to Walkley and Hillsborough after complaints from campaigners and local councillors. The company has confirmed it will operate a double decker service on the 52 route at all times and will be monitoring capacity following timetable changes. Walk-in centre and minor injuries unit gain reprieve

Sheffield’s NHS walk-in centre and minor injuries unit are to remain open for at least two years as health bosses back down on closure plans. The reprieve agreed by the Clinical Commissioning Group follows months of protests and provides time for a review of the business case to be carried out next year.
