Junior Disability Snooker prepares for launch

The National Junior Disability Snooker Championships are set to launch in Sheffield at the weekend, with the competition entering its fifth year. Staged by the Stephen Harrison Snooker Academy the tournament has reached such high demand that applicants are being turned away and the organisers are fundraising to expand. Sheffield streetware brand gains global profile

Grammy nominated US rapper, The Game, has got on board to promote a young Sheffield entrepreneur’s streetware clothing brand. Umar Farouk launched his En Rois label into the competitive clothing market in 2016 after studying textiles and following a dream of one day owning his own brand. Mental health blogger nominated for diversity award

A charity worker who blogs daily about dealing with mental health issues has been nominated for a National Diversity Award. Sarah Cardwell, a mother of two and executive assistant at the Good Things Foundation charity spoke to Sheffield Live! about how she hoped to remove the stigma of mental health and help others by sharing her experience. Ambulance service launches life saving app

Yorkshire Ambulance Service have launched a ‘save a life app’ for mobile phone which shows where the nearest external defibrillator can be found from over a thousand external across the country. The app also offers guidance on how to respond in the event of someone suffering a cardiac arrest. Bananaman brings a smile despite terminal illness

A terminally ill man suffering from brain cancer has been out on Sheffield streets dressed-up as his favourite childhood super hero Bananaman, aiming to use his time to cheer up others. Ford Mitchell has been told he may have only a few years to live and has been visiting sick children at Weston Park Hospital and talking to the homeless and those in need.
