As Jessica Ennis Hill began the defence of her heptathlon title, dozens of young Sheffield athletes cheered on her at the English Institute of Sport right here in Sheffield. The EIS is one of Jess’ main training venues where she has been putting in the hard hours with her coach Tony Minchello. David Bly is the Dry Sports Manager at EIS and he explained why Jess is such a favourite of these youngsters.
