Two men are receiving hospital treatment for serious injuries after a firearm was discharged in the Broomhall area of Sheffield. Emergency services were called to Headford Grove at around 1.20am on Thursday morning. The victims, both in their mid 20’s remain in hospital in a serious but stable condition. More than a dozen tree campaigners mounted a demonstration outside Sheffield Crown Court as hearings began on a Sheffield Council application for an injunction to restrict tree-felling protests. Thousands of trees have already been felled across the city as part of Council’s 25 year, £2bn Streets Ahead project. Sheffield Council has announced the phased introduction of new waste recycling arrangements with household to be provided with an additional brown recycling bin. The new bin will be for glass, plastics and cans, while existing blue bins will be designated for paper and card. Sheffield Supertram drivers and conductors have staged a 24 hour walkouts after rejecting a revised three-year pay offer. Unite members are seeking a pay increase of up to 50p an hour and further strikes are planned after the union rejected an offer they same amounts to around 25p an hour.
