Violence reduction fund opens in South Yorkshire

Youth organisations in South Yorkshire are being invited to present proposals for funding from the region’s newly launched Violence Reduction Unit. The unit has been awarded £1.6m of Home Office funding for work on preventing and reducing violent crime and is inviting youth and community organisations to apply for grants of up to £20,000. SynthFest returns to Sheffield

The UK’s premier synthesizer festival, SynthFest, has returned to Sheffield for its fourth year with over 1000 delegates attending exhibitions, workshops and performance at the Octagon Centre. Prime Minister promises more cash for the North

Boris Johnson, speaking at the Convention of the North in Rotherham, has announced he will set up a new body to bring more investment to the north of England. Students welcome change to graduate visas

Sheffield students have welcomed changes to visa regulations that would allow international students to stay in the UK for two years after graduation instead of the current four months. Protests continue over no-deal-Brexit threat

Hundreds of protestors gathered at Barker’s Pool for the second weekend in a row to oppose the Prime Minister’s decision to suspend Parliament and continue his threat to exit the EU on 31 October without a deal. The demonstration and march from Barker’s Pool to Devonshire Green was organised by campaign group Another Europe is Possible. Baillor Jalloh reports for Sheffield Live!

Zimbabweans react to death of Mugabe

Zimbabwe’s former president and independence icon Robert Patrick Mugabe, has died aged 95. The former president was ousted in 2017 in a military coup after ruling the country for more than three decades. Zimbabwean opposition activist and Sheffield resident Dr Nkulukelo Sibanda shared his reflections with Sheffield Live! Baillor Jalloh reports.
