Boys Who Like Girls premiere launched at Sheffield Doc/Fest

Sheffield Doc/Fest hosted another world premiere with the launch of Boys Who Like Girls, a film set in Mumbai that explores male violence and masculinity. The film describes a young teenager called Ved who comes from a violent home in the Mumbai slums. After joining a project aiming to foster healthy masculinity he realises there may be a brighter path than the one paved by his abusive and controlling father. Sheffield Live! presenter Martin Carter spoke to film director Inka Achte and producer Liisa Karpos.

Sheffield Doc/Fest calls it a wrap

Sheffield’s International Documentary Film Festival has drawn to a close with thousands of festival goers enjoying the week of events, industry talks, exhibitions and films including several UK premieres. Sheffield Live! reporter Azz Mohammed spoke to Doc/Fest director Liz McIntyre.

Power cut hits Sheffield commuters and businesses

A power cut in Sheffield city centre left commuters delayed and hundreds of businesses without electricity. The incident happened at around 11:30am on Tuesday and followed an underground explosion on Charles Street. Businesses affected were without power for nearly two hours. Buskers join campaign to support unpaid carers

Sheffield is celebrating national Carers Week with a series of events, exhibitions and a team of buskers raising awareness and money for Sheffield Carers Centre. Diversity festival celebrates Sheffield cultures

Young people from schools across Sheffield came together together at the weekend for the One Sheffield Many Cultures Festival at Barker’s Pool. Cycling biog premier at Sheffield DocFest

Time Trial, a documentary film about former cyclist David Millar, has had its UK premier at Sheffield’s DocFest. Millar is the only British rider to have worn all Tour de France jerseys and one of nine to have worn the yellow jersey as leader of the general classification. Working Win offers work related health care

A government funded programme to trial a new approach to work related healthcare is underway in Sheffield City Region. The Working Win scheme will offer personalised and intensive support to people in work or seeking work and who are experiencing mental or physical health challenges. Peace festival celebrates 15 years
