Urban sketching puts city in perspective

Beginners and experienced artists joined a day of painting and drawing using techniques of urban sketching to capture Sheffield cityscapes. The event hosted by Museums Sheffield and the Millennium Gallery was led by artist Brian Smith. Azz Mohammed reports for Sheffield Live!

Tram strike leaders deny claims of targeting festival

Unite the Union have denied claims by transport bosses that industrial action on the Supertram network is deliberately targeting Tramlines festival goers. Strike action over the past two weeks has caused disruption on Sheffield’s Supertram network with around 200 drivers and conductors taking part in a pay dispute that is yet to be resolved. Tramlines fringe set to rock the city

A packed music programme of fringe events is planned to run in parallel with this year’s Tramlines Festival at Hillsborough Park. A music stage on Devonshire Green will be among the highlights as bars and clubs across the city programme a weekend of live music. Investigation sought over bike-share failure

Councillor Douglas Johnson has called on Sheffield Council to investigate why the Ofo bike-sharing scheme, launched earlier in January this year, is now quitting the city. The firm, which introduced 1000 yellow scan-and-go dockless bikes to Sheffield, has said they will cease operations in the city to concentrate on other markets. Two men injured in Broomhall shooting

Two men are receiving hospital treatment for serious injuries after a firearm was discharged in the Broomhall area of Sheffield. Emergency services were called to Headford Grove at around 1.20am on Thursday morning. The victims, both in their mid 20’s remain in hospital in a serious but stable condition.
