Councillor Douglas Johnson has called on Sheffield Council to investigate why the Ofo bike-sharing scheme, launched earlier in January this year, is now quitting the city. Two men are receiving hospital treatment for serious injuries after a firearm was discharged in the Broomhall area of Sheffield. Emergency services were called to Headford Grove at around 1.20am on Thursday morning. The victims, both in their mid 20’s remain in hospital in a serious but stable condition. Thousands of football fans gathered at Devonshire Green on Wednesday night to watch England go down 2-1 to Croatia in the World Cup semi-final. The match was shown on a giant screen open to the public. Sheffield Live! reporter Baillor Jalloh asked fans for their reaction after the final whistle.
More than a dozen tree campaigners mounted a demonstration outside Sheffield Crown Court as hearings began on a Sheffield Council application for an injunction to restrict tree-felling protests. Thousands of trees have already been felled across the city as part of Council’s 25 year, £2bn Streets Ahead project. The Council says only trees that are diseased, damaging or dangerous are being felled but campaigners say many healthy trees have been removed. Baillor Jalloh reports for Sheffield Live!
