Changes announced to recycle bins scheme

Sheffield Council has announced the phased introduction of new waste recycling arrangements with household to be provided with an additional brown recycling bin. The new bin will be for glass, plastics and cans, while existing blue bins will be designated for paper and card. Supertram staff in 24 hour strike

Sheffield Supertram drivers and conductors have staged a 24 hour walkouts after rejecting a revised three-year pay offer. Unite members are seeking a pay increase of up to 50p an hour and further strikes are planned after the union rejected an offer they same amounts to around 25p an hour. Sharrow Festival celebrates 21 years

Hundreds attended the Sharrow Festival at the weekend as festival goers celebrated its 21st anniversary. The community event features multiple stages for music and dance, crafts and campaign stalls, and activities including five-a-side football and a graffiti zone. Cliffhanger returns to Sheffield

Labour face criticism over Hallam MP reinstatement

Sheffield branch leader of the Women’s Equality Party, Charlotte Mead, has questioned Labour’s decision to reinstate Jared O’Mara following his suspension last year. O’Mara was suspended from the Labour Party following the discovery of homophobic and misogynistic posts on his social media account. Civil servants in pay protest

Civil servants mounted a protest outside Home Office buildings in Sheffield over a pay claim in support of security guards. The Public and Commercial Services Union are balloting members over possible strike action. Azz Mohammed reports for Sheffield Live!

Sheffield Council warning to tree campaigners

Sheffield council have sent letters to fourteen people, including Nether Edge and Sharrow councillor Alison Teal, threatening a further injunction to prevent tree felling protests.
