National charity serves up free tennis

National sports charity Tennis For Free is to invest in a year-long programme of free family-oriented tennis coaching sessions at Hillsborough Park. In a post-Wimbledon push, the charity has created its first Tennis For Free site in Yorkshire in partnership with Sheffield City Council, Parks Tennis CIC and the Lawn Tennis Association. £250m fund for grassroots tennis launched in Sheffield

A national investment programme to improve grassroots tennis facilities has been launched in Sheffield, one of the first cities to benefit. Tennis courts revived in Sheffield parks

Previously unplayable council-owned tennis courts in parks across Sheffield have gained a new lease of life thanks to investment from Parks Tennis and the Lawn Tennis Association. The refurbishment of 34 courts across 10 sites aims to bring low cost tennis to people of all ages and abilities. An online booking system will allow quick reservation with funds raised being used to maintain the courts.
