South Yorkshire Police have confirmed two boys, aged 13 and 14, have died and four other children injured after an incident in Shiregreen on Friday. A 37 year old man and a 34 year old woman have been arrested on suspicion of murder after reports of concerns for safety at a property in Gregg House Road. Fir Vale School in Page Hall has re-opened on Wednesday after an incident on Tuesday morning when a black BMW was driven at speed into the school grounds before it ploughed into the front doors of the school. Two men were arrested in what South Yorkshire Police describe as “an isolated incident”. No staff or students were reported to have been injured but the school was evacuated. The Independent Police Complaints Commission have launch an inquiry into the death of a man who was hit by a marked police car on Penistone Road in Sheffield. The 70-year-old, who has not been named, was hit by the Vauxhall Astra on Penistone Road at its junction with Bradfield Road at 18:20 GMT on Saturday. He was pronounced dead at the scene and South Yorkshire Police said an investigation into the circumstances of the collision was under way. Simon Thake reports for Sheffield Live!
The UK Independence Party have started an inquiry into the incident that saw MEP Steven Woolfe admitted to hospital. The incident, described as a “scuffle” by UKIP’s temporary leader Nigel Farage, came after Woolfe was reported to be one of the favourites for election as the party’s next leader.
