Diabetes report highlights foot ulcer risk

More than a third of people are unaware of the dangers of diabetes related foot ulcers which untreated can lead to foot amputations, a new survey from Diabetes UK has revealed. Diabetic foot ulcer is a major complication of diabetes with 80 per cent of diabetes related amputations arising from unhealed ulcers. Masquerade ball raises £5,000 for diabetes charity

A Sheffield sixth former has raised over £5,000 for the charity Diabetes UK by hosting a fundraising masquerade ball. Sixteen year-old Ellie Channer sought to raise awareness and to help others with the condition after being diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes herself. Azz Mohammed reports for Sheffield Live!

Raising awareness of Diabetes

A campaign to highlight what puts people at risk of developing Diabetes has been launched this week. The Sheffield branch of Diabetes UK have set up an information point in the centre of town as part of the national campaign.

The ‘Know Your Risk’ bus parked up on Norfolk Row for Diabetes awareness

Diabetes UK invited the people of Sheffield to join them on Norfolk Row in order to find out whether they are at risk of developing type 2 diabetes. in Sheffield alone twenty six thousand, five hundred and sixty two people are living with type 2 diabetes. However, three out of five cases of Type 2 diabetes can be prevented or delayed through adopting a healthy lifestyle and taking steps to reduce risk of developing the condition.
