Sheffield boxer Kell Brook is set to goes head to head against Sergey Rabchenko with an attempt to reignite his career in a bout for the WBC Silver title at the FlyDSA Arena. The Siberian cold blast, dubbed the Beast from the East, has led to many school closing and caused widespread travel disruption. More than 550 schools across Yorkshire closed on Wednesday as a result of the wintry conditions. An amber weather warning still remains in place across the country. Hundreds joined a rally from the University of Sheffield to Barker’s Pool in support of university staff on strike in a row over proposed changes to their pension scheme. Uber drivers have converged on the company’s office in Sheffield following news that private hire licences acquired in other locations will no longer be transferrable. Previously the company allowed an Uber driver to acquire a licence in one region and to operate in another. Now they have been given just three weeks to acquire a licence locally. A former Liberian refugee, who came to Sheffield in 2004, has launched a charity organisation to support children in the UK and West Africa. The Akoi Massayan Bazzie – Give Hope Humanitarian Foundation (AMBG2H) aims to deliver humanitarian hope packages to support young people, families and communities affected by wars and natural disasters through public institutions such as medical centres, schools, orphanages, youth centres and prisons.
