Cliffhanger returns to Sheffield

Labour face criticism over Hallam MP reinstatement

Sheffield branch leader of the Women’s Equality Party, Charlotte Mead, has questioned Labour’s decision to reinstate Jared O’Mara following his suspension last year. O’Mara was suspended from the Labour Party following the discovery of homophobic and misogynistic posts on his social media account. Civil servants in pay protest

Civil servants mounted a protest outside Home Office buildings in Sheffield over a pay claim in support of security guards. The Public and Commercial Services Union are balloting members over possible strike action. Azz Mohammed reports for Sheffield Live!

Sheffield Council warning to tree campaigners

Sheffield council have sent letters to fourteen people, including Nether Edge and Sharrow councillor Alison Teal, threatening a further injunction to prevent tree felling protests. The campaigners have been asked to give a written undertaking not to engage in tree protests in order to avoid the Council taking legal action. Baillor Jalloh reports for Sheffield Live!

Mums United against gang and knife crime

A group of Sheffield mums have joined together in a bid to tackle the rise in knife crime in the city. The group, called Mums United, has been formed to try to prevent young people getting involved in gang-related violence and anti-social behaviour. Baillor Jalloh reports for Sheffield Live!

Council funding boost to support refugees

Sheffield Council is to receive government funding to help new refugees find work and to integrate into the local community. The fund will pay for two local authority project workers who will provide support to access housing and services and to assist entry into employment. Baillor jalloh reports for Sheffield Live!
