Sheffield Muslims celebrate Eid

Thousand of Sheffield Muslims attended the Eid-ul-Fitr prayer gathering at Tesco car park on Saville Street. The Eid celebration marks the end of Ramadan, in which Muslims fast from dawn to dusk and engage in support for charitable causes.

Sheffield bids farewell to boxing legend

Hundreds attended the funeral of boxing legend Brendan Ingle at Sheffield Cathedral. Ingle Brendan died in May, aged 77 at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, from a brain hemorrhage. The Irish born former boxer trained four world champions from his Wincobank gym, including Johnny Nelson, Naseem Hamed, Junior Witter and Kell Brook. Baillor Jalloh reports for Sheffield Live!

Grenfell memorial held at Sheffield Town Hall

A memorial gathering has been held outside Sheffield Town Hall to remember the 72 who died as a result of the Grenfell fire in London one year ago. Earlier councillor Jim Steinke, cabinet member for housing, and Nether Edge and Sharrow councillor Michelle Cook, spoke to Sheffield Live! about local authority action to improve fire safety in Sheffield’s tower blocks. Boys Who Like Girls premiere launched at Sheffield Doc/Fest

Sheffield Doc/Fest hosted another world premiere with the launch of Boys Who Like Girls, a film set in Mumbai that explores male violence and masculinity. The film describes a young teenager called Ved who comes from a violent home in the Mumbai slums. After joining a project aiming to foster healthy masculinity he realises there may be a brighter path than the one paved by his abusive and controlling father. Buskers join campaign to support unpaid carers

Sheffield is celebrating national Carers Week with a series of events, exhibitions and a team of buskers raising awareness and money for Sheffield Carers Centre. Diversity festival celebrates Sheffield cultures

Young people from schools across Sheffield came together together at the weekend for the One Sheffield Many Cultures Festival at Barker’s Pool. Cycling biog premier at Sheffield DocFest

Time Trial, a documentary film about former cyclist David Millar, has had its UK premier at Sheffield’s DocFest. Millar is the only British rider to have worn all Tour de France jerseys and one of nine to have worn the yellow jersey as leader of the general classification.
