Sheffield remembers victims of Hiroshima

A short remembrance ceremony has been held at the Peace Gardens to remember the victims of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It is 73 years since the United States dropped atomic bombs on the two Japanese cities resulting in the killing of more than 100,000 people and many more injured. Fashion show celebrates African culture

Youdan Trophy football tournament underway

The Youdan Trophy has launched its fourth international youth football tournament in Sheffield with local and UK under 14s and under 16s academy teams competing with international visitors from Ireland, the USA and Oman. Funding bid rejected for Sheffield social housing

Sheffield Council has been told it will not be eligible to borrow additional funding to invest in social housing after having its application to a government scheme rejected. Councillor Jim Steinke, cabinet member for neighbourhoods and community safety, said the rejection is based on old data and the Council is seeking to challenge the assessment. Sheffield South East MP, Clive Betts, told Sheffield Live! the government has got its priorities wrong. Azz Mohammed reports.

Sheffield to Monte Carlo road rally art revealed

The Bangers and Cash fundraising road rally to support youth housing charity Roundabout has put on display in the Winter Gardens the work of local artists who have painted the bonnets of the rally cars. Local businesses have each bought an ‘old banger’ for less than £650. The four day rally to Monte Carlo is scheduled to take place over four days in September. The painted bonnet artworks are to be auctioned later in the year. Azz Mohammed reports for Sheffield Live!
