Waste food project finds appetite for more

The Real Junk Food Project Sheffield is planning to expand following the success of its pay-as-you feel food recycling store, cafes and schools programme. The Burngreave-based social enterprise has launched a crowdfunding drive under the banner ‘Food Works Not Food Waste’. It is seeking to raise funds for a warehouse to preserve, store and cook food as well as expanding its educational activities. Real Junk Food Project nominated for award

The Real Junk Food Project in Sheffield has been nominated as one of the four finalists for the Social Enterprise of the Year Award as one of the most promising micro-enterprises in the UK. The company, which takes unwanted food from supermarkets and shops and offers it to those in need on the basis of pay-as-you-feel, has grown tenfold in the last twelve months.
