A former Sheffield Hallam University student has become the first dedicated LGBT wedding photographer with the launch of her same sex weddings business. Nelly Naylor opened her business after she struggled to find an LGBT photographer for her wedding following the proposal of her girlfriend. Simon Thake reports for Sheffield Live!
One of the stand out films at this year’s Doc/Fest is the story of two gay Syrian refugees competing in a pageant for the title of Mr Gay Syria. The documentary tells a story of resistance to persecution and the life-threatening situations faced by LGBT+ Syrians. The inaugural Sheffield LGBT+ awards will take place over Easter weekend at the Library Theatre. The awards ceremony was started Sheffield PRIDE to reward and recognise those who have worked to promote LGBT+ causes. Original members of Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners, portrayed in the acclaimed film Pride, were in Sheffield to celebrate Lesbian Gay Bisexual Trans+ History Month. The LGBT+ activists were at the Millennium Gallery as part of a weekend of events which also mark the 50th anniversary of the partial decriminalisation in law of male homosexuality in England and Wales.
