Sharrow Festival celebrates 21 years

Hundreds attended the Sharrow Festival at the weekend as festival goers celebrated its 21st anniversary. The community event features multiple stages for music and dance, crafts and campaign stalls, and activities including five-a-side football and a graffiti zone. Cliffhanger returns to Sheffield

Peace festival celebrates 15 years

Longest running folk festival returns to Sheffield

The student-run Inter Varsity Folk Dance Festival, which returns to Sheffield for the ninth time, was first launched in Leeds in 1951 and is the UK’s longest continually running folk festival. Followers of folk music and dance from across the country will get to enjoy the three day festival packed with workshops, performances, singarounds and dances. Rebuild festival explores end times

Independent arts venue DINA is hosting a festival of post apocalyptic theatre with a series of productions and installations exploring the end of the world and the building of news ones. Four theatre companies have contributed to the event with a unique mix of immersive and interactive performance. Sheffield Live! reporter Nick Coleman spoke to Sara Hill of Mesters Events.

Nether Edge Festival kicks off with carnival

The week long Nether Edge Festival has launched with an official opening and carnival at St Peter’s Hall Common Ground on Machon Bank Road. Unity celebration aims to brighten up Burngreave

Burngreave community organisations, residents and businesses organised a festival to celebrate the diversity of the neighbourhood and what it has to offer. The “community unity” event came together in response to recent outbreaks of violent crime that have impacted on community life. Community partners launch Parson’s Cross Summerfest

A week long festival of activities for young people has been launched in Parson’s Cross with the support of Sheffield Council and local community partners. Summerfest offers music, games, sports, a pop cinema, tech workshops and craft activities and is taking place at Chaucer School and The Learning Zone. Organisations involved include SOAR, the University of Sheffield, SWFC Community Outreach, YMCA White Rose, Parson Cross Initiative and Chaucer School. Baillor Jalloh reports for Sheffield Live!
