Local landmarks unveiled on Meadowhall mural

Illustrator Dave Draws, known for his doodle maps, has brought his pen to the walls of Meadowhall to sketch two giant murals of local landmarks. The murals are on display for two weeks and feature well known locations from Sheffield and South Yorkshire. Baillor Jalloh reports for Sheffield Live!

Detained asylum seeker gains three month reprieve

Victor Mujakachi, who was detained and set for deportation to Zimbabwe, has been given a three month reprieve following a public campaign. His solicitor has been invited to submit a fresh application for asylum with a decision to be made in three months time. Mujakachi, who has lived in the UK for over 16 years, told Sheffield Live! he has been overwhelmed at the public support he has received. Azz Mohammed reports.

Flag-raising commorates Mi Amigo crash

A permanent flagpole carrying the United States flag has been unveiled at Endcliffe Park close to the memorial of the 1944 Mi Amigo plane crash. Returning damaged from a WW2 mission the US bomber crashed into woodlands killing all 10 crew on board and narrowly avoiding a group of schoolchildren. Tony Foulds who witnessed the crashed when he was just eight years old has been looking after the memorial for decades. Baillor Jalloh reports for Sheffield Live!

Sheffield asylum seeker fears deportation

An asylum seeker who has lived in Sheffield for more than 16 years told Sheffield Live! she is now afraid to report for an immigration interview. Marian Max, who is originally from Zimbabwe, spoke of her fears of arrest and deportation after three of her compatriots were detained by the UK border agency in cooperation with Zimbabwean government officials. School students strike for climate action

School students from Sheffield and across the UK have joined a youth campaign calling for more to be done to tackle climate change. The Youth Strike for Climate is part of a global movement known as Schools 4 Climate Action. Sheffield Live! reporter spoke to Green Party activist Paul Turpin.

Ticketing site launches charity partnership

A ticketing website has launched an initiative to provide free access to events through selected charities and community groups. Tickets for Good plans to give away tickets to a range of music events and performances to enable those facing barriers of isolation and affordability to benefit.
