Sheffield Wednesday’s under 14’s lost on Youdan final

Over the last few days, some of the world’s top clubs have been competing in Sheffield this week for the second year of the Youdan Trophy. Nearly 800 players took part in the tournament and that has brought international football of the very highest standard to the city. Sheffield Wednesday’s under 14 were beaten 3 nil by Charlton Athletic. Here is a highlight of all the goals.

Will Buckley Joins Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday have signed Sunderland midfielder on a season long loan. The 26-year-old, English midfielder, spent the second half of last season on loan at Birmingham and is eligible to feature on Sunday as Wednesday host former Premier League side Aston Villa in their Championship opener. Special Olympics Officials visit Sheffield’s venues

Officials from the Special Olympics have been in Sheffield this week, visiting a number of venues across the city where the games will be taking place in August 2017. 2600 athletes with learning disabilities will take place in 19 sports. The tour of the venues began at Bramall Lane, where the opening ceremony will take place. Kathryn Muffett went along to find out more.

Nick Matthew launches Special Olympics South Yorkshire Partnership

People with learning difficulties have had the chance to take part in a number of different sports, including football, athletics and basketball, at the English Institute of Sport. Sheffield is preparing to host the Special Olympics National Games in August 2017, and today was the launch of the South Yorkshire Partnership. Participants, parents and carers could learn more about local sports clubs and how they can get involved.

Brammall Lane to host Special Olympics opening ceremony

The Special Olympics will be making it’s way to Sheffield in 2017, it will be the 10th in history of the organisation and the second to be held in Sheffield. It is the largest registered charity providing year-round sports training and competition opportunities for people with learning disabilities. Almost 1.2 million people in the UK which is 2% of the population are affected.
