Yorkshire Ambulance Service have launched a ‘save a life app’ for mobile phone which shows where the nearest external defibrillator can be found from over a thousand external across the country. The app also offers guidance on how to respond in the event of someone suffering a cardiac arrest. A plaque has been unveiled in Sheffield Peace Gardens to mark the founding of the National Market Traders Federation, founded in 1899 at the Wentworth Cafe on Pinstone Street. The NMTF is now headquartered in Barnsley and has over 20,000 members who trade at markets, fairs and festivals across the country. The Charity Cup, held at Sheffield Wednesday’s Hillsborough stadium has raised £12,000 for St Luke’s Hospice and the Sheffield Wednesday Community Programme. Two teams, kitted out in Wednesday’s home and away strips, were drawn from Owls supporters who pledged to each raise at least £500 for charity as well sports and other guest stars including musicians Jon McClure of Reverend and the Makers and Jon Windle of Little Man Tate. Members of Sheffield’s Pakistani community gathered at Arooj restaurant on Friday to celebrate the appointment of Gul Nawaz Hussain as Queens Counsel. Sheffield’s Blowfish Theatre company will bring their latest production, Trump the Musical, to Theatre Deli in May, after touring in London, Birmingham and Manchester.
