An art exhibition with a difference has launched today at Theatre DELLI-CAT-ESSON on The Moor. ‘Art in Crisis’ showcases the work done by homeless people who are supported by charity, ‘Crisis.’ There’ll be many performances and workshops over the next couple of weeks, to get the public involved and raise awareness of homelessness.
Hundreds of migrants have resumed their journey through Austria to Germany after Hungary’s decision on Friday to let them through. Several trains arrived at Munich station in the early hours of Sunday morning, many migrants travelling on to other German cities for processing. Trains are taking hundreds more to Vienna from Austria’s border with Hungary. The Pope said every Catholic parish in Europe should host a migrant family. He added humanity must give help to those “fleeing death” and who are “victims of war and hunger and setting out on the path to a better life”. Meadowhall is 25 years today since it was first opened to the public. Over the weekend the centre will be celebrating its 25 years of existence and to celebrate the quarter of a centenary occasion the centre is hosting a weekend of birthday celebrations. The Moor Market will begin opening from 8am tomorrow, to encourage more shoppers to come shopping in the market and boost trade. The market currently opens at 8.30am, but traders want people to be able to visit the market before they can start work in the city centre.

Charity, PDSA, has received five hundred and fifty thousand pounds in national funding from the People’s Postcode Lottery, to help protect animals from a number of illnesses. The money will also be used to educate pet owners, cover thousands of vaccinations and provide micro chips for cats and dogs. Joanne Smith has been selected as a specialist ‘Pet Champion’ at the PDSA Sheffield Pet Hospital, and will help run the scheme. She told our reporter, Kathryn Smiles, how she felt to get the funding.

Eight Sheffield cyclists are going to ride from Lands End to John O’ Groats to raise money for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. The disorder affects mainly boys and is progressive muscle wasting disease that is life limiting. There is currently no known cure. They Sheffield riders will be part of a 32 strong team that is aiming to raise £70,000 during the 1,000 mile ride.
