Dozens take part in Tinsley charity race

Over 100 people took part in a 5k fun run, a 10K race, and a half marathon to raise money for breast, ovarian and prostate cancers and a charity supporting children with facial deformities. The event was held along the Tinsley Canal Towpath. Baillor Jalloh reports for Sheffield Live!

Doodling draws a crowd for charity fundraiser

A new creative art and fundraising event Funk ‘n’ Doodle, hosted at The Albion pub on London Road, has raised over £7,000 for Mind, the mental health charity. The event, bringing people together to destress by doodling and dancing to a funky soundtrack of up and coming Sheffield DJ’s, is the debut promotion of Fellevents, a student-led arts collective. Former refugee launches humanitarian charity

A former Liberian refugee, who came to Sheffield in 2004, has launched a charity organisation to support children in the UK and West Africa. The Akoi Massayan Bazzie – Give Hope Humanitarian Foundation (AMBG2H) aims to deliver humanitarian hope packages to support young people, families and communities affected by wars and natural disasters through public institutions such as medical centres, schools, orphanages, youth centres and prisons. Endcliffe church launches life skills training project

Christ Church Endcliffe is pioneering a new eight week life skills training course to support people to live better on a low income including help with budgeting and decision making. The initiative is backed by the charity Christians Against Poverty which offers support to people regardless of age, gender, faith or background and provides services such as debt counselling and money management as well as life skills training. Bangers and cash, charity fundraising rally

Homelessness charity Roundabout are celebrating forty years of services by hosting Britain’s first art roadshow banger rally with the theme Bangers and Cash. The charity are inviting forty local businesses to each purchase an old car worth £650 or less and have it painted by a local artist to drive from Sheffield to Monte Carlo. The car bonnets will then go to an exhibition to be auctioned off for charity. Nick Coleman reports for Sheffield Live!

Young fundraiser raises over £1k for charity

Ten-year-old Asher Walton-Mitchell from Meersbrook has raised just over £1,000 for Sheffield’s Children’s Hospital with a one mile swimming challenge. Asher, who has experience as a patient at the Children’s Hospital said he was doing it “because they do an amazing job” and he “wanted to give something back.” He completed the swim in one hour thirty minutes at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre. Taxi driver raises over 15k for charity

A Sheffield taxi driver has raised £15,600 in memory of a teenager who died of Sudden Death Syndrome. Chris Hudson walked 1400 miles over a year to raise the funds to buy screening equipment for teenagers who are at risk of cardiac arrest. He completed the walk on New Year’s eve. Sheffield charity helpline wins national award

Sheffield’s Action charity has won a Helplines Partnership national award for the impact of its Domestic Abuse Service helpline. The helpline, which takes more than 2,500 calls each year from people across the city, is open seven days a week, except bank holidays. Most callers are women, but men also use the helpline and support is also available for non-English speakers. Baillor Jalloh reports for Sheffield Live!

Abbeydale Picture House hosts Hansons charity valuation

In partnership with Sheffield Antiques Quarter, the Abbeydale Picture House is hosting the first of a series of monthly charity valuation days, hosted by celebrity auctioneer Charles Hanson.
