Sheffield women reclaim the streets

Hundreds of women walked through Sheffield City Centre yesterday to Reclaim the Night.  The event is now a national one but started off in Yorkshire when women were being told to stay at home by the police because the Yorkshire Ripper was still at large.

Contemporary artists take over old Woolies

Eight local artists are performing in a contemporary art event at the old Woolies on The Moor in Sheffield.  You decide which piece  you want to see and how much you want to pay for it. A short theatre piece on the child exploitation taking place in Rotherham called Did you call the Police? is being performed in one area of the former shop.  While other performers specialise in other art forms.

Sheffield dancers in Dance Your City bid

Sheffield dance crew, Ink Dance, have produced a street dance video featuring iconic Sheffield landmarks in their bid to win the Dance Your City competition. They hope to perform in London with award winning hip hop dance company Boy Blue Entertainment. The competition winners are decided by a public online vote which closes at midnight on Saturday.

Paul Blomfield MP criticises United decision

Life long Blades fan Paul Blomfield, MP  for Central Sheffield, has spoken out against Sheffield United’s decision to allow Ched Evans to train with the team. He says that from private discussions he had had with the club that  he had hoped they would not be working with Evans.

Remembrance Day

Thousands of people lined Bakers Pool, Sheffield, to remember those who have lost their lives as a result of war.  This year marks the 100th year since the first world war started and 70 years since D Day.
