Anti-fracking campaigners march in Eckington

Hundreds of campaigners and local residents joined a No Frack Day rally at the proposed INEOS fracking site near Eckington. The rally began at Coal Aston Village Hall with a march to the proposed site in Bramleymoor Lane, off Marsh Lane. Campaigners highlight the dangers of fracking and are urging the government to promote safer and sustainable energy sources. Baillor Jalloh reports for Sheffield Live!

Doncaster Knights sign Sheffield lad

Doncaster Knights have signed rising rugby union professional and Sheffield lad Curtis Wilson, who was until recently with Sheffield Eagles under a short term deal. The 25 year old winger has signed a season long contract with the Knights who currently sit in the top half of the championship table. Young bus users offered first time advice

As the new academic year kicks off, bus operator Stagecoach Yorkshire are providing tips and advice to help parents prepare their children for bus travel to and from school. The campaign is aimed at schoolchildren who will be catching buses for the first time on their own. Sheffield campaigners support McDonalds strike action

With US fast food giant McDonalds facing its first ever strike at two sites in the UK, a solidarity protest was organised outside the company’s Sheffield city centre branch. Bakers Food and Allied Workers’ Union supported workers in Cambridge and Crayford are striking over pay and conditions, seeking a minimum of ten pounds an hour and an end to zero hour contracts. Sheffield celebrates Special Olympics athletes

Following the success of Special Olympics 2017 GB National Summer Games, Sheffield Council hosted a lunch reception to congratulate the athletes and their coaches. During the week long event some 2,600 athletes with intellectual disabilities took part in various sporting events across the city. Baillor Jalloh reports for Sheffield Live!

Viraaj wins restaurant of the year award

Sheffield curry house, Viraaj on Chesterfield Road, has been named best Yorkshire restaurant of the year in the English Curry Awards. The prize, presented at a ceremony in Manchester, adds to a growing list of awards for the restaurant. Baillor Jalloh reports for Sheffield Live!

Hotel offers food for the homeless

A team of chefs from Sheffield’s four-star Copthorne Hotel have been preparing hot meals for a local charity which supports homeless, vulnerable and socially excluded adults. Chefs from the 1855 Restaurant provided lunches for St Wilfrid’s Centre, Queen’s Road while the charity’s own chef was on holiday. Hundreds enjoy bank holiday weekend at Oktoberfest

Hundreds of people have been enjoying the August bank holiday weekend at Sheffield’s Oktoberfest on Devonshire Green. Boxing fans predict Mayweather v McGregor fight

In one of the most highly anticipated boxing matches of the year Floyd Mayweather and Conor Mcgregor will be stepping into the ring in the early hours of Sunday morning. Mayweather, 40, came out of retirement for the multi-million dollar fight and is one of the best boxers of his generation. School leavers get first look at new retail quarter

Sheffield school leavers have been given an opportunity by construction firm, BAM, to see how the cities new retail quarter is being developed. The company, working alongside Sheffield Council, is building the first phase of Sheffield’s new retail quarter located at the top of The Moor.
