Jessica speaks out against Ched Evans return

Jessica Ennis-Hill has become the latest star to say that she will not lend her name to Sheffield United if they give Ched Evans a contract. The Blades have a stand named after the Olympic Gold medalist. Ched Evans was convicted of rape and has been training at the United Ground.

Ennis’ coach concern with Olympic Legacy Park

Tony Minichiello, coach to Jessica Ennis-Hills, has expressed dismay with athletics provision at the Olympic Legacy Park after the closure of the Don Valley Stadium, in an interview for Talking Sheffield on Sheffield Live! TV. Minichiello said: “I don’t think the investment is going into the athletics side.”

Paul Blomfield MP criticises United decision

Life long Blades fan Paul Blomfield, MP  for Central Sheffield, has spoken out against Sheffield United’s decision to allow Ched Evans to train with the team. He says that from private discussions he had had with the club that  he had hoped they would not be working with Evans.

Police call a firearm amnesty

A firearm amnesty has been called in Sheffield until the 21 November.  Anybody who is in possession of a gun that they do not have a license for can hand them in without fear of prosecution.  However if the gun has been used in a crime then it will be investigated.

Remembrance Day

Thousands of people lined Bakers Pool, Sheffield, to remember those who have lost their lives as a result of war.  This year marks the 100th year since the first world war started and 70 years since D Day.
