Cancer patients in charity football tournament

A group of young Sheffield cancer patients have been taking part in a football competition for cancer awareness and fundraising. The charity event aimed to dispel the myth that enjoying life and playing sports must come to an end with a cancer diagnosis. Competitors took part in six-aside tournament, in which all teams had at least one person with cancer or having survived the illness. The event was organised by Clic Sargent and the Sheffield United Community Foundation. Baillor Jalloh reports for Sheffield Live!

Wilder reflects on United title win

Blades boss Chris Wilder was appointed last summer to spearhead United’s promotion campaign after the team’s six years in League One. Wilder came with a strong pedigree after winning League Two with Northampton Town last year. Sheffield Live! reporter Azz Mohammed spoke to Wilder before the Blades’ victory parade.

Blades fans celebrate team success

Thousands of people lined the streets to watch Sheffield United’s open-top bus parade in celebration of their League One title win. The victory parade began at Bramall Lane before the players boarded the bus and made their way through the city centre with the team later taking to the balcony of the town hall. The team gained 100 points en route to clinching the title, bringing to an end a six-year stint in the third tier of English football much to the relief of Co-owner Kevin McCabe. Blades clinch League One title

Sheffield United have been crowned League One champions after Bolton fell out of the running with a loss at Oldham. Six years since the Blades last tasted success and following a series of below par performances and managerial changes, former Blades player Chris Wilder has changed the team philosophy and clinched the title with his first year in charge. Sheffield United on the way up

Sheffield United are to return to the Championship after a six year absence following their 1-2 away victory at Northampton Town. The Blades needed a win to secure automatic promotion. Marc Richards put Northampton ahead, but Leon Clarke and John Fleck both scored to secure a win for the visitors. Sheffield United: Samir Carruthers delighted to sign with Blades

New Sheffield United signing Samir Carruthers has said he is delighted to have joined the club after two spells with MK Dons. The 23-year-old whose contract at MK Dons was due to expire in the summer, has agreed a three and a half year contract with Sheffield United after completing all medical checks. Sheffield United: Wilder plays down injury concerns ahead of Bury game

Blades manager Chris Wilder expects Paul Coutts, Kieron Freeman and Mark Duffy to be available for Tuesday’s game against Bury despite weekend injuries. Goals from Billy Sharp and Stefan Scougall gave Sheffield United a 2-1 victory over nine-man Shrewsbury that lifted them into the automatic promotion places this weekend. However the game was marred for United with injuries to three key players. Paul Coutts, Kieron Freeman and Mark Duffy all had to leave the field with injuries.
