Warp and weft in the Winter Gardens

Traditional tools and methods of weaving and spinning have been on display to the public at a Winter Gardens demonstration. The Hallamshire and District Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers is a charity dedicated to preserving and promoting the craft of cloth-making using traditional hand tools. The group provide informal tuition and a meeting place for fellow craftspeople. Sheffield Live reporter Azz Mohammed spoke to charity trustee, Leonie Souster.

Unwanted artwork sale opens at Cupola Gallery

More than 300 artists working across a range of media have offered their under-the-bed artworks for sale to the public as part of an annual exhibition at Cupola Gallery. The gallery, established in 1991, is one of the most respected spaces for the exhibition and sale of contemporary fine art and craft in the North of England. Award for community cinema that puts audience in the picture

Handmade Cinema was awarded Most Innovative Organisation at the Voluntary Action Sheffield Make a Difference Awards for transforming the way young people watch films. The community cinema, founded in 2012, engages with it’s audience by creating a real life feel around the chosen film, allowing children and parents to take part in craft, film-making and other activities based on the film’s theme and ideas.
