Care home seeks donations to enter gardening competition

Firth Park care home Abbey Grange is asking for donations of plants, shrubs, trees and garden tools to help their bid to enter the annual Country Court in Bloom competition. Winning the competition will mean securing extra funding for their comfort fund which provides days-out for residents. Sheffield Live! reporter Baillor Jalloh spoke to Michael Nicolls, well-being coordinator at Abbey Grange care home.

‘I’ve not felt supported’, says Sheffield care home director

Palms Row Health Care has had two outbreaks of Covid-19 in its Sheffield nursing homes, with 11 deaths and dozens more staff and residents testing positive. Director, Nicola Richards said: “We should have had support quicker”. Richards told Sheffield Live! there had been a lack of access to personal protective equipment until last week and emergency funding is still to arrive. Baillor Jalloh reports.

Campaigners protest against dementia care home closure

Campaigners who oppose the closure of The Hurlfield View care home for people with dementia have been protesting outside the Town Hall. Last month they presented a 10,000 signature petition to Sheffield City Council. The Council have said they are “one hundred percent confident” there will sufficient pre-bookable respite and day care activities in place from April 2017. Baillor Jalloh reports for Sheffield Live!
