Deal reached on Hillsborough bus services

Private bus company Stagecoach have agreed to increase capacity on the busy 52 bus route to Walkley and Hillsborough after complaints from campaigners and local councillors. The company has confirmed it will operate a double decker service on the 52 route at all times and will be monitoring capacity following timetable changes. The announcement follows talks between the company and Labour councillors. Sheffield Live! reporter Azz Mohammed spoke to Hillsborough councillor George Lindars-Hammond.

Yorkshire philanthropist remembered in new album launch

Award-winning Sheffield songwriter Elliot Kennedy has launched a new album with singer Joanne Edward-Heselden in memory of her father, Yorkshire philanthropist Jimi Heselden OBE. Walk-in centre and minor injuries unit gain reprieve

Sheffield’s NHS walk-in centre and minor injuries unit are to remain open for at least two years as health bosses back down on closure plans. The reprieve agreed by the Clinical Commissioning Group follows months of protests and provides time for a review of the business case to be carried out next year. New Era Square launched to the public

A multi-million pound investment that developers hope will be the Times Square of Sheffield has been part opened after completion of the first pase of development. Nether Edge Festival underway

The opening event for Nether Edge Festival 2018 was held at the Common Ground Community Centre with music, dance, face-painting, arts and crafts activities. Regional unemployment continues to fall

Latest unemployment figures reveal that the number of people without a job in Yorkshire fell by 2,000 between May and July 2018 to 118,000. Affordable housing in a shipping container on display

A shipping container has been on display in Sheffield city centre, demonstrating to the public what an affordable home of the future might look like. Fitted out with a compact design including a bed, toilet, kitchen and seating area, container homes are offered as a way to reduce homelessness and improve access to low cost housing.
