As part of Restorative Justice Week, victims of crime are being supported to meet their offenders to discuss the impact of the crime and repair the harm. Rotherham child sexual abuse victims exceed 1500

The National Crime Agency has said that Operation Stovewood, the investigation into historic child sexual abuse in Rotherham, has now identified 1,510 victims of which 85 per cent are female. The investigation also reported that 110 suspects have been identified. At a briefing event, senior investigating officer Paul Williamson said his team of 144 officers were working on 34 investigations and engaging with over 260 survivors. New centre opens its doors to victims of sexual assault

A new facility to support victims of rape and sexual assault in South Yorkshire has opened as part of the regional Sexual Assault Referral Centre. South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner, Dr Alan Billings and Lord Mayor of Sheffield, Councillor Denise Fox were present for the opening of the centre which offers a safe haven for victims and a range of services including medical examinations. According to the Crown Prosecution Service domestic abuse, rape and other sexual assault offences against women and girls increased by almost 10 per cent in England in 2015.
