Olympic Legacy Park official opening

The Olympic Legacy Park in the Don Valley has been officially opened by the former Sheffield MP and ex-Sports Minister, Richard Caborn. The 35 acre complex is set to be part of an innovation distrct for health and wellbeing research and learning including the new UTC college, Oasis Academy School and an indoor arena that will be home to Sheffield Sharks basketball team. The outdoor spaces will feature two running routes, a 100m track and 3G sports pitches. The park will also include a hotel and business offices. Lord Winston opens Legacy Park college

Professor Lord Robert Winston opened the UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park college at an official ceremony to launch the new facility for 14-19 year old students. The £10 million college on the former Don Valley site will specialise in computing, health sciences and sport science and is fitted with state of the art equipment. UTC Sheffield plan to recruit younger students

Sheffield’s first University Technical College (UTC) have launched a public consultation on proposals to admit younger students. Students can apply for admission to the UTC from year 10 but from September 2018 they could enter the UTC in year 9 if the plans are agreed. Sheffield Live! reporter Azz Mohammed spoke to UTC executive principal Nick Crew.

First students arrive at new University Technical College

Sheffield’s new University Technical College (UTC) has opened on the Olympic Legacy Park and students have begun moving into after a two week induction. The £10m development is the second UTC in Sheffield. It will provide specialist study for 14 to 19-year-old students in technical skills for healthcare, sports sciences and computing, as well as offering traditional academic qualifications.
