Doncaster Knights have signed rising rugby union professional and Sheffield lad Curtis Wilson, who was until recently with Sheffield Eagles under a short term deal. The 25 year old winger has signed a season long contract with the Knights who currently sit in the top half of the championship table. Sheffield Wednesday head coach Carlos Carvalhal threatened to walkout of a press conference after facing contract related questions. The tense meeting with the press came after a comment the Owls boss made on Alan Biggs’ Talking Sheffield show on Sheffield Live! this week. Carvalhal seemed to suggest that his contract was up at the end of this season wheres he had previously intimated he had a further two years left to run. Simon Thake reports for Sheffield Live!
Sheffield Council leaders are considering proposals to end the authority’s waste contract with provider Veolia. Veolia is responsible for collection and disposal of household waste, running waste recycling centres and managing and operating the Energy Recovery Facility at Bernard Road. The contract was signed in 2001 and is set to expire in 2036. At Sheffield City Council’s cabinet meeting next week, members will consider alternative solutions to provide waste services in the city.
