Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust have said that they have already addressed many of the issues that were highlighted in a recent Care Quality Commission report in the eight months since the inspection took place. The report said there were concerns about staff shortages and how medication is managed.
This is Learning Disability Week and things kicked off in Sheffield with a game of football in Bakers Pool. Mencap and Sheffield Wednesday put on the event which encouraged everybody to have a go at playing football together.

A demonstration was held today to stop the extradition of Janahan Sivanathan an asylum seeker who lives in South Yorkshire. Janahan is a Tamil from Sri Lanka. It is estimated that around 100,000 Tamils have either been murdered or gone missing during the Civil War. The Home Office says it does not comment on individual cases.
A ceremony commemorating the 71 Anniversary of D Day took place at Bakers Pool in Sheffield. Veterans were joined by members of the public to pay their respects and pay tribute to those who took part.

A local company Floow has partnered up with the European Space Agency to carry out a year long research project in traffic pollution. The project announcement comes just weeks after the Government was ordered by the UK’s Supreme Court to take immediate action on air pollution.
