Olympic Legacy Park official opening

The Olympic Legacy Park in the Don Valley has been officially opened by the former Sheffield MP and ex-Sports Minister, Richard Caborn. The 35 acre complex is set to be part of an innovation distrct for health and wellbeing research and learning including the new UTC college, Oasis Academy School and an indoor arena that will be home to Sheffield Sharks basketball team. The outdoor spaces will feature two running routes, a 100m track and 3G sports pitches. The park will also include a hotel and business offices. Darnall schools hold community sports day

Primary and secondary schools in Darnall came together for an annual sports day at the City Athletics Stadium on Woodburn Road. The community event, open to parents and children, aimed to promote children’s engagement in sport and exercise. Sheffield Live! reporter Azz Mohammed spoke to Nicola Hopkin, PE teacher at Sheffield Park Academy.

Celebrating Sheffield sporting success with a cuppa

A new not-for-profit café has opened on Chapel Walk. Nothing unusual about that but this café focuses on celebrating the diverse range of Sheffield sports and sporting clubs and exploring their history and heritage. Sporting Sheffield stocks products from Goalsoul, a local company with a huge range of football-inspired art and apparel. There is also merchandise from Sheffield Football Club and Hallam Football Club, as well as other sports products and artefacts. Simon Thake reports for Sheffield Live!
