New innings for community cricket nets

Sharrow youngsters hoping to follow in the footsteps of Joe Root are to benefit from £28,000 investment in cricket nets and facilities at Mount Pleasant Park. Improvements underway at Sheffield’s largest park

Woodseats Playground has been re-opened with a ribbon-cutting launch event as part of a £300k programme of improvements at Graves Park. Sheffield’s largest park, nearly a century old, is home to a large lake, sports pitches, a rose garden, play areas, an animal farm and even its own herd of Highland cattle. The programme has been part funded by the sale of Cobnar Cottage. Azz Mohammed reports for Sheffield Live!

£300m new leisure development planned for Meadowhall

British Land the joint owner of Meadowhall in Sheffield, has submitted a detailed planning application to Sheffield City Council for a £300 million Meadowhall Leisure Hall. The proposed extension is billed as the next phase of Meadowhall’s evolution and will follow a £60 million refurbishment due to complete at the end of 2017. The extension comprises a 330,000 square feet multi-level extension housed under a glazed roof, offering dining and entertainment as well as internal and external spaces for events and community use.
