Thirteen arrested in police drugs swoop

Police executed a number of drug warrants across the city as part of Operation Duxford to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour. Thirteen people were arrested in suspicion of drug offences, theft, breach of bail and immigration offences. Baillor Jalloh spoke to chief constable Stephen Watson of South Yorkshire Police.

Police and Hallam Union tackle hate crime

South Yorkshire Police and Sheffield Hallam Students’ Union have teamed up to tackle hate crime in the city. Students and university staff are often reluctant to call in the police when confronted with hate crime. Loan shark suspect arrested in Shiregreen

A 44 year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of illegal money lending and money laundering following a joint operation involving trading standards officials and South Yorkshire Police. The England Illegal Money Lending Team (IMLT) working with Sheffield City Council’s Trading Standards Department and South Yorkshire Police executed a warrant at a property in Shiregreen, seizing documentation. Police launch crime crackdown in Sheffield

South Yorkshire Police have been carrying out an intensive crime sweep, part of Operation Duxford, targeting Sheffield estates and involving hundreds of officers. The dedicated operation in areas including Darnall, Parson Cross, Arbourthorne, Page Hall and Burngreave has included planned visits and intelligence led warrants to tackle crime and to support vulnerable people. Police launch new campaign on drink driving

South Yorkshire Police are urging drivers to avoid driving during the festive period while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The campaign to discourage people from irresponsible drinking emphasises safety and alcohol awareness with the aim to reduce drink driving, alcohol related violent crime, vulnerability, domestic violence and underage drinking. Additional measures include drink drive enforcement, test purchasing, the roll out of fixed penalty notices, working with licensed premises and increased patrols to deter people from drink driving.
