Sheffield boccia athlete and radio presenter, Sam Hindley, has returned from the Special Olympics GB 40th Anniversary Games with both a gold and a silver medal. The games held at the University of Stirling, Scotland, has been the biggest sporting event of the year for people with intellectual disabilities and also marks the 50th anniversary of the worldwide Special Olympics movement. Sheffield fans disappointment after Croatia defeat

Sheffield bids farewell to boxing legend

Hundreds attended the funeral of boxing legend Brendan Ingle at Sheffield Cathedral. Ingle Brendan died in May, aged 77 at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, from a brain hemorrhage. Cycling biog premier at Sheffield DocFest

Weekender athletes pay tribute to women of steel

Extreme sports centre gets go ahead at former ski village

Sheffield’s ski village and surrounding area is set to be brought back to life as a ramped up Extreme branded sports, leisure and entertainment destination, Sheffield Council has confirmed. The Parkwood area is to be transformed with the prospect of bringing thousands of visitors and hundreds of jobs to the city as part of a £22.5m development across the 28 acre site that will include new mountain bike tracks and the re-instatement of Sheffield’s much-loved ski slopes.
