Illustrator Dave Draws, known for his doodle maps, has brought his pen to the walls of Meadowhall to sketch two giant murals of local landmarks. The murals are on display for two weeks and feature well known locations from Sheffield and South Yorkshire. Baillor Jalloh reports for Sheffield Live!
A Sheffield artist, has painted a mural portrait in memory of Aseel Al-Essaie close to where the 23 year old was gunned down on Daniel Hill, Upperthorpe. The memorial tribute was painted by Ben Gourvenec on wall of the Red Monkey Tattoo Studio. Gourvenec, a part-time artist, responded to a proposal that was circulated on social media. A colourful mural to celebrate the Special Olympics National Games, to be held in Sheffield in August 2017, has been unveiled in Sheffield City Centre. The ground-breaking artwork is a collaboration between local digital artist Greg Harris, Sheffield art students and athletes from Special Olympics GB. It celebrates famous Sheffield landmarks together with images of local icons and Special Olympics athletes from the Sheffield area. Sheffield boxer Kell Brook is a patron of the Special Olympics and took part in the mural unveiling. The finished work will be erected in a prominent position opposite Sheffield train station until the end of the Games in August 2017. Baillor Jalloh reports for Sheffield Live!
