Identities explored in Winter Gardens exhibition

Arts charity, Ignite Imaginations, has presented a new exhibition at Sheffield Winter Gardens exploring issues of mental health and identity. The project has been development in partnership with Adullam Homes and support of the National Lottery. Sheffield Live! reporter Azz Mohammed spoke to Louisa Golob, chief executive of Ignite Imaginations.

Barnsley and Rotherham business showcase

Hundreds of people attended the annual exhibition of the Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber of Commerce held at the New York stadium, home to Rotherham United Football club. The Chamber Means Business event offers businesses the opportunity to promote their brand, products and services and to engage in networking and ideas sharing. Dolls’ houses through history on display

A touring exhibition of dolls’ houses from the V&A Museum of Childhood is on display at Weston Park Museum. Visitors can journey through the history of the home with 12 intricately crafted dolls’ houses spanning over 300 years. Marriages, parties, politics and crime play out in country mansions, suburban villas, newly-built council estates and high-rise apartments, as each house is brought to life by the characters that live and work there. Women’s pit camp memorabilia on display

Sheffield Women against Pit Closures are the subject of a new ‘protest lab’ exhibition at the Millenium Gallery. The exhibition includes memorabilia, banners and poetry from the 1984/85 miners strike but also for the first time from the women’s pit camp at Houghton Main in 1993 set up to campaign against pit closures. History of protest on display at the Millennium Gallery

An exhibition that charts the history of protests and activism in Sheffield, from 1794 to the present day, is on display at The Millennium Gallery. The exhibition, titled Protest Lab, invites visitors to contribute by adding their own stories to the collection. The project is funded by the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation Collection Fund and will be on display until the end of May. Baillor Jalloh reports for Sheffield Live!

Sheffield Blitz exhibition opens

A permanent exhibition has opened at the National Emergency Services Museum in Sheffield to commemorate the World War Two bombing of the city.The German air raids took place over two nights in December 1940, killing and wounding more than 2,000 people. A recreation of life in the blitz, including recordings of the raids, has been unveiled at the National Emergency Services Museum.It was opened by 98-year-old Doug Lightning who worked as a firefighter during the bombing attacks. New exhibition highlights Sheffield’s lost architectural icons

An exhibition opening in Sheffield, titled Blink… and it’s gone, features a series of posters highlighting the demolition of Sheffield buildings which were once at the forefront of urban regeneration. The screen-printed limited editions feature sites such as the Grosvenor House Hotel, the ‘egg box’ Town Hall extension and Hallam Towers Hotel. Sheffield Live! reporter Simon Thake spoke to Rupert Wood, founder and owner of APG Works where the exhibition is being held.

Young Sheffield artists showcase their work

The Rotary Club of Abbeydale are holding their annual A Level Exhibition at Sheffield Town Hall where a selection of the best pictures produced by Sheffield A level students is displayed. It includes work submitted to the annual National Association of Decorative & Fine Arts Societies (NADFAS) / Royal Society of British Artists (RBA) competition. In the past four years, three of the pictures have featured in exhibition at The Mall Galleries, London. The A Level exhibition is a working exhibition and, with the help of the Sheffield branch of NADFAS, it also features artists in residence.
