Barry Chuckle funeral held at Rotherham United

The funeral of Barry Chuckle has been held at Rotherham United Football Club. While family members were at the ceremony, fans gathered outside the stadium to show support for the comedy legend. Paul Chuckle described his brother as his best friend and cried as fans shouted the famous catchphrase ‘to me to you’. Barry Chuckle died on 5th August aged 73 after a short illness. Peace festival celebrates 15 years

Thousands enjoyed the sunshine at Sheffield’s fifteenth annual Peace in the Park Festival. The event, held in the Ponderosa Park in Netherthorpe, aims to bring people together to celebrate different cultures and to promote peace and harmony. Baillor Jalloh reports for Sheffield Live!

 

Opposition grows to lap dancing club licence renewal

Calls are growing for the Spearmint Rhino lap dancing club licence renewal to be rejected due to its location close to educational facilities, residential properties and businesses. Renewal of the venue licence is due to be considered at a 19 June meeting of Sheffield Council after being previously extended for a 12 month period. Campaigners have already secured a judicial review of the Council’s previous decision and a hearing is set to take place a week after the licence renewal meeting. Scramble for gold as Arctics release new album

Sheffield fans of the Arctic Monkeys queued from the early hours at a city centre pop-up store to get their hands on one of just 2044 exclusive gold vinyl pressings of the band’s sixth album to be released in Sheffield. The new album, titled Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino, is the first in six years from the Sheffield indie rock band after their 2013 album, AM, which sold around five million copies worldwide.
