Consultation opens on 10 year plan for Sheffield city centre

Sheffielders are being encouraged to have their say on plans for the future of the city set out in a new 2018-2028 Sheffield City Centre Plan. The plan, titled ‘This is Sheffield’, is intended to guide future regeneration including residential, business, leisure and the outdoor environment. Exhibitions are planned to be held in the Winter Gardens and the Moor Market over the next fortnight alongside an online survey and consultation. Council to kick-start new housing development

Sheffield Council has committed over £3 million in loan funding to build 1,000 new homes as part of a deal with developer Sheffield Housing Company. The agreement will support new housing in the Manor, Norfolk Park, Parsons Cross and other locations where the Council has land available. Azz Mohammed reports for Sheffield Live!

Council plans Attercliffe area development

Councillor Mazher Iqbal, cabinet member for business and investment, has spoken to Sheffield Live! about ambitions to develop the Attercliffe neighbourhood. While city centre developments are proceeding at a pace, the Attercliffe area, which includes the listed Adelphi building, has seen little recent investment. Azz Mohammed reports for Sheffield Live!

Richmond Park fare after a redevelopment

Hundreds gathered at Richmond Park over the weekend for the Richmond Park Fair. This comes after development work over recent years, to improve the parks facilities and provide somewhere safe for the public to have fun. Friends of Richmond Park, and other volunteers have been working on the project for around six years. It now has a new playground, climbing wall and bike track. Kathryn Smiles went along and spoke to Chairman of Friends of Richmond Park, Jonathan Morris, about the fair and the recent developments.

Smithy Woods under threat

Sheffield Friends of the Earth marked its fortieth year of environmental campaigning with a walk around Smithy Wood. The ancient woodland near Chapeltown, home to birds and other wildlife, is under threat from plans for a new motorway service station on the M1.
